The New Jersey Devils finally solved Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick.
Marek Zidlickyâs shot from the blue line was redirected by Ryan Carter in the high slot. The puck skipped twice on the ice and past Quick to tie the score, 1-1, three minutes into the third period in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final on Saturday evening at the Prudential Center.
Quick had turned away 20 shots through two periods to preserve a 1-0 lead entering the third period.
Shots were at a premium in Game 1. They came wholesale Saturday. The Devils, who had only 17 shots Wednesday in the series opener, had 17 with four minutes left in the second period of Game 2,
Quick had been up to the challenge.
